Ca Togni

Obtained from the white bombino vine, it takes on the name of Pagadebit (Debt-Payer) after the characteristic generosity of this vine in producing healthy grapes in all vintages. This is how the Pagadebit name came about. With its bright/yellow color and greenish reflections, typically for this vine, it has floral hints of Hawthorne, fruity white peach aromas and a pleasant taste. It is generally an ideal companion to fish-based dishes, excellent as an aperitif, and good alongside traditional flatbreads (so called ‘piada’ or ‘piadina’) and soft cheeses.

Teresa is our best white wine. From the Grechetto gentile grapes on the hills of Rimini, ripened by the warm sun, this DOP wine has a wonderful balanced taste. Best served with fish.

Botte Piccola

Our Botte Piccola, or Small Barrel, is a masterpiece. The colour is intense red with shades of purple. We can smell berries and raisins and tastes notes of cocoa, liquorice and cinnamon. This full bodied drop is best paired with strong flavours such as truffle, seasoned cheese and red meat which all enhance the complexity of our Botte Piccola.

The Story of Secondo

My great grandfather, whose name was ‘Secondo’, started our vineyard in 1954. He purchased 10 acres of land and planted the Sangiovese vines. Why was his name ‘Second’ I wondered? It is a funny story. Families in the past were big and with so many kids they called the first ‘First’, the second ‘Second’ and so on. There are so many reasons we invite you to discover this land and our wines. We make whites, reds and wonderful sparkling wines! Our grandfather’s favourite wine is Botte Piccola – a Sangiovese blend aged in large barrels for a year and then in small French Oak barrels for six months. Our Ca Togni white wine is made with a local grape called Pagadebit which means Pays the Debt. This grape variety – native to our region and always able to be grown – was used to pay debts amongst farmers in 50s and 60s.
